You Died Symbol Reference: Black Iron Greatshield

You Died features the symbol of the Black Iron Greatshield on page 147. It’s a reference to the in-game item of the same name. It’s the winning design of the shield design contest and can be found found in Dark Souls: Design Works on page 107.

The Black Iron Greatshield uses the symbol of a Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) group called Gestiguiste. The Gestiguiste are part of Dagorhir, a non-profit organization for medieval fantasy foam-fighting sport. One of their members submitted the design to the contest.
